Workers Who Sow
Luke 10:2
He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
1. What is plentiful? What is few?
Jesus said that the “harvest” is plentiful. However, Christ also said that the “workers are few!”
2. What are we told to pray for?
The LORD says we are to pray that “the Lord of the harvest” will “send out workers into his harvest field.” Interestingly, the Word of God teaches that only God “makes things grow.” Therefore, neither the person who plants nor the other who waters is anything! (1 Corinthians 3:5-7)
Sow As You Go
3. How can you be a worker for the Lord today?
First, I can get on my knees and pray both for those I am already following up with as well as that are yet to be met today! Second, I must put actions with a faithful prayer and reach out to everyone on my prayer list with a call, text, or other message. Additionally, I must be intentional in this communication and set up a study, help them get to church, or meet with them to have fun and a good talk. Lastly, I must be active in sharing my faith today as I am out and about! I like to say “sow as you go!”
Ready With The Message Of Reconciliation
2 Corinthians 5:18-20
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
Sowing In The Ministry Of Reconciliation
1. What has God given us (v. 18-19)?
God has given us “the ministry of reconciliation.” However, what is “reconciliation” exactly? Google defines “reconciliation” as “the act of restoring friendly relations” or “making different ideas, facts, or accounts agree with each other.” Certainly, this scripture uses “reconciliation” in the sense of “restoring friendly relations” between a lost world and the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
Ambassadors Who Sow Christ’s Message
2. What does it mean to be an ambassador for Christ?
Furthermore, “reconciliation” means “fixing a broken friendship or family bond after a major argument.” Sadly, friendship with the world is hatred towards God. (James 4:4) An ambassador represents the nation they are from. Specifically, they uphold the standard, culture, interests and agenda of their nation’s leader(s). Therefore, we represent King Jesus and the same standards of his Kingdom. Being an ambassador for Christ in this way is both an exciting and sacred honor!
Sow With Tears, Reap With Joy
Psalm 126:5-6
5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
1. What is promised to those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow?
The scripture promises that if I go out weeping and sowing I will return with “songs of joy.” Therefore, if I am not singing joyfully I must ask if I am sowing with tears! Obviously, if someone is not singing at all then it’s likely because they are not sowing at all! I sow with tears of gratitude and thankfulness when I am in touch with how much I’ve been forgiven. Sadly, if I am out of touch with grace, I slow down my pace, and stop sowing all over the place.
Carrying Seed To Sow
2. What does it look like to carry seed into October?
I must sow seeds watered with the tears of gratitude. Furthermore, when I lack that grace-full connection with God, I must be honest and open about it. October is the time to plant (invite/outreach) and to water (in prayer and investment of time) the seeds of the Gospel.

APPLICATION: You have spent thirty days getting your roots deep. Now make a plan for October. Who will you invite? Who will you study with? Write it down and share it with your
discipler. Keep growing, and get ready to reap!
I am so grateful for our bible talk here in Southwest Riverside. We met at the Riverside Plaza this past Tuesday night. Our plan was simple! We met at 7:30PM, shared our faith with people at the plaza for 30 minutes, and then had an 8:00PM bible discussion. God blessed us with three guests and a great discussion! Additionally, two of the three set up to study the bible later this week! Just go and sow and God will make it grow!
