Jesus Had Compassion On Them
Matthew 9:35-38
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Harassed And Helpless
1. When Jesus looked at the crowds, what did he feel (v. 36)?
Jesus felt compassion. Additionally, Christ sympathized with them.
2. How did he describe the people? What did they look like to him?
Jesus saw them as sheep without a shepherd. Interestingly, Jesus saw that they were harassed and “helpless”.
3. What did he tell his followers to pray for (v. 38)?
Jesus told us to pray and ask God (the “Lord of the harvest”) to send out workers into his harvest field. Therefore, I am going to make sure to pray for this tonight!
Seek And To Save The Lost
Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
1. Why did Jesus come?
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. Furthermore, If I am following Jesus then I must ask why am I here?
What Is My Heart’s Desire
Romans 10:1
1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
1. What was Paul’s heart’s desire and prayer?
Obviously, Paul’s heart’s desire and prayer to God was for the Israelites to be saved!
2. Do you feel this way about the people around you who are lost?
Firstly, I do not feel this way about the people around me who are lost as much as I should! Secondly, I need to pray more about this…a lot more!
APPLICATION: Write down the names of three people in your life who do not know Jesus. Start praying for them by name today.
